Is Rotary A Secret Organisation?

No! Rotarians are very open about their membership. Each Rotarian is encouraged to proudly wear their Rotary badge which signifies their membership in this international organisation.. All Rotarians are keen to promote Rotary and increase the profile of the organisation wherever possible.

Is Rotary a Male Only Organisation ?
No, many clubs have female members although some clubs do retain single gender status. The Rotary Club of Huntingdon Cromwell does not at present have any female members however membership would not be precluded based solely on gender.. There are several clubs within District 1070 that have female Presidents.

Is There an Age Limit for Rotarians ?
Unlike some other organisations there is no age limit for Rotarians. There is no lower age limit although practicalities prevent membership below a certain age. Although Rotary is perceived as an older persons organisation there are rotarians who are in their twenties.

How Often Should I Attend Meetings?

Attendance is an important aspect of Rotary because fellowship is the essence of Rotary and this is helped by regular attendance. Each member of the club should attempt to attend or "make up" attendance to a level of at least 60% of the club meetings held. However, this percentage is not mandatory.Whilst this may appear onerous attendance can be "made up" by attending other Rotary Clubs, certain District events and Club Service projects.

How Much Will Rotary Cost Me?
This depends entirely upon the involvement of the individual member. The basic costs are the membership subscription (£70 in Huntingdon Cromwell) and the weekly meal cost. Additional costs may be incurred in respect of special events, such as Ladies' Nights, other clubs Charter Evenings and fundraising events. In total a fairly active Rotarian should expect to spend approximately £1,000 per annum.
